Braille

The services we offer range from audio typing (from tape to print or tape to Braille), to Braille transcription directly from electronic documents or hard copy print. We can also offer a text-based OCR scanning service. Please note however, that the print quality of any scanned material must be of a reasonable standard, i.e. no handwritten material will be accepted, and we cannot be held responsible for any errors in the Braille transcription of such material, but we will do our utmost to achieve the highest possible level of accuracy. All Brailling is done using computer-based Braille translation software. Please note also that any work undertaken will be treated in the strictest confidence.

Who would benefit from these services?

• Any blind individuals who need material Brailled in a hurry.
• Local Councils - perhaps any leaflets or press releases they distribute could be supplied to us on computer disk for Brailling. This could also apply to charities who wish to make their material more accessible to the blind and visually-impaired.
• Schools and Colleges - any blind or visually-impaired students who need course notes typed for tutors, or tutors who need their notes Brailled for students.<
• Restaurants - who may wish to supply their menus in Braille.
• Churches - hymns or Orders of Service sheets could be produced in Braille.

Training And Consultancy

Training

We offer training on all the main screen reading packages, and also on a wide variety of software.

Ways We Can Train

We do not run specific courses, instead we try to tailor the training to your needs.

Phone Or Skype Training

Training can be done over the telephone, or over Skype.

We train by the hour, a minimum of one hour must be taken, and then notes are Emailed or sent in your preferred format at the end of the lesson.

No contracts - you can take as few or as many lessons as you wish. The cost is £30.00 per hour plus VAT.

We can also remotely connect to your PC, so that we can see, and show you, exactly what to do when training. For more information on this, please see our PC Support page where you can install the software to allow us to connect.

Home Visits

If you prefer, we can train you at your location. In this case, a minimum of half a day must be taken, half a day is three hours and a full day is six hours.

The cost for home training is £495.00 per day, £275.00 per half day excluding VAT.

Consultancy

We offer consultancy on a range of computer technology, and other equipment to assist in the daily living of the blind and visually impaired. Please Contact us for further details.
